In our previous energy-saving guide for hobby electronics, we introduced the concept of electrical power and how it relates to circuit voltage and current.  We then provided a detailed list of numerous low-power ICs that can be used in DIY electronics projects for increased energy-efficiency.  

However, if as an electronics hobbyist, you are looking to further improve your system’s energy efficiency, you can further improve the hardware design of your project through some circuit tricks and good component selection!  You can also improve the software design of your microcontroller-based project by configuring low-power modes on both your microcontroller and on its peripherals!
